If you have read my trip report for Jan 2007 you will recall that we met up with a Japanese fisherman in a little camp ground just out of Inangahua Landing. His name was Sadahide Sugawara or Hide for short. We hit it off and asked Hide if he would like to come fishing with us. We spent 4 great days fishing together. He was great fun to have along and he was (is) a very good fisherman. I hope that we can meet up again and go fishing.
Anyway Hide has some serious artistic talent in the drawing department (he had shown us a book of some sketches he had made while on holiday in New Zealand) and so to thank us for taking him along fishing with us he sent us a drawing. Below is a photo he took of Clacko and I. This is a photo of DC and I looking down on the Upper Grey. Not 5 minutes later I saw a good fish and went down and had a cast, unfortunately I didnt manage to catch that fish. Anyway I digress..... next is a photo the drawing that Hide did for us.
I think it is absolutely fantastic. It has pride of place above my fly fishing bench! Thanks for the drawing Hide it is magnificent, I hope we can go fishing again together soon.
